
This medium has been reliably informed that one Unisa Kamara, formally of Congo Town, Freetown is reported to have gone into hiding as Police continue to search for him because of his sexual orientation.
The practice of Homosexuality in Sierra Leone is a taboo in the African traditional belief and is also an offence against the law, the penalty, is usually 25 years or life imprisonment. Unisa is a well-known homosexual in the community and has been advocating for Homosexuals’ rights and orientation to be respected, because of this his parents have disowned him and he is no longer allowed to stay with them.
It is well known fact that Unisa and his lovebird called Morlai Kamara have been seen together several times within the community, the people regarded their practice as a taboo against their way of life and they plan secretly to kill all of them who are into this evil practice. Some of these gays when arrested are usually taken to the Police station beaten mercilessly before they are charged to court and are eventually jailed for lengthy years or even given life imprisonment.
There was incident when Unisa and his friends had thrown a party exclusively for gay people, at the Waterloo community, people laid siege for them at the venue of the party. When the party got underway, thugs invaded the nightclub with cutlasses and knives, the whole place was turned upside down and two boys died from the ensuing melee.
Hints gathered by this Press, revealed that Unisa had dropped out of School because he could not cope with the bullying he received from many of his close friends and family members. Unisa’s dream of going to the university was shattered because of the attitude of friends, relatives and others who could not feel for homosexuals like him. His freedom to socialize with his gay friend was trampled, when he walks around the street, children in the neighborhood sometime throw stones at him. Several times Unisa had been arrested taken to several Police Stations and beaten to a state of stupor in the Freetown Municipality Police Stations.
The report further stated that the people of Waterloo community are also reportedly looking for him in order to kill him so as to remove the abomination of his unnatural sexual orientation from their midst. When this Reporter went to the Waterloo community to investigate this matter, he was told that Unisa Kamara is a deviant who has brought a curse on the community by having sexual relations with another man. It was also revealed that one day Unisa had gone to gay night club at Congo Town, unknowingly the Congo Town community people had laid siege on his returning he was arrested and taken to traditional god where he will be killed for the abomination he had brought to the community. He was locked in a room waiting to be killed the second day, but fortunately for him, two of his gay friends learnt of his ordeal and at night they broke the door where he was held in captive and freed him
This reporter was made to know that after this death threat, Unisa was so afraid for his life and he planned for a way to leave the country. He was helped by a popular socialite who took him to Europe, his whereabouts is still unknown to several people in Sierra Leone who are still bent on killing him because of the shame he has brought to his family and his community
